Wilderness Art Challenge

This a watercolor painting I painted for the Wilderness Art Challenge.
The photo posted was so beautiful I had to give it a try, the antlers were the most challenging of all, I needed my background to be darker to show off the sun reflecting so beautifully on the antlers.
Here is the link to this blog if you want to check out some of the artwork.

  1. Maria, your lighting in this painting is wonderful. You really captured the sunlight coming in on the left side. Beautiful.

  3. Beautiful painting, Maria. I like the way you kept the background light in value; the animal stands out so nicely on it.

  4. Thanks Theresa, I kept thinking that he can't be much different than painting a horse, head was similar, legs were similar, but the antlers, they were a different story, never painted or drew anything like that on a horse picture! It was fun though.
