Wild Pony of the Outer Banks Corolla North Carolina |
So, this is where we are at with my wild pony. I am still working on the mane and forelock, trying to remember value, not detail, I find that really hard with manes, tails and hair, I want so much to paint the details I always forget to stand back and look and squint!
I am standing back now....not sure if I want to work the background a little more, any thoughts?

This is beautiful! I love the background around the head.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lee, the horses here were so beautiful, they were fun to paint, I may try a few more from photos that I have. I love your seagulls and seascapes and can't wait to see what you paint next.
ReplyDeleteThe colors in the horse just sing! I know I posted the same thing on fb, but I wouldn't mess with the background anymore.
ReplyDeleteOk Gretchen, I trust your eye, I will leave the background as is, but I might tweak the mane/forelock just a little...... then move on.........
ReplyDeleteThe horse is the focus, and he is looking fab. If you add more to the background you may detract from that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help Pat, I think I am in agreement now with you and Gretchen, background stays (but I have to clean up my whiskers a little) a little finishing of the mane and i will share the finished picture asap!
ReplyDeletePat, I also love the finished dog watercolor, it is amazing, very nice work.
This painting is coming along beautifully. I agree with everyone that the background is really nice just as it is. The horse really stands out well against it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa I hope to squeeze in time today to finish and move on to a new piece. Thanks for your eye on this.
ReplyDeleteStunning, and perfect just the way it is!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol for your post, it is finished, but now for framing....
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the coming weekend.
Hello, Maria. The first thing that caught my eye was the background. It's soft yet provides interest, and compliments the horse beautifully. If it was me, I would not change it. And thank you for your comment on my blog. I was not looking for compliments;I just thought it was good information for an artist to have on her page.
