Futures So Bright

Futures So Bright, 8 by 10 inch watercolor
A quick post of a watercolor I have just finished, it was a fall day, sun shining, blue sky and I captured this on my cell phone, it reminds me of the movie, I think it was Risky Business, and the song (I am showing my age here), "My futures so bright, I have to wear shades...."

  1. Thanks Gretchen, I was tempted to wait to finish it til February, so it would count towards our 28 paintings, but I wanted to finish it once I got started!

  4. Wonderful, Maria! Horses and people, two difficult subjects and you did it!

  5. Sheryl, thanks so much, people are way harder than horses, hooves are so much simpler than painting hands!

  6. Really nice work! Great lighting, and the way they are both looking at something adds a lot of intrigue!

  7. I was singing the second part, before I read it. Guess I'm an oldie too

The painting is lovely. Person and horse, great.
Only thing I might change would be the bottom of the clouds - that's only because I was taught to always paint them with a straight (ish) underside. But that might have been peculiar to my tutor! :)

  8. Pat, I struggled the most with those clouds...and the reference photo showed flat bottoms on those clouds now that you mention it! I haven't done much in the way of skies/clouds, maybe I will do some more of them in my 28 days of February, love the tip keep them coming!

Thanks Theresa, they do like somewhat focused, don't they? And that doesn't really happen that often!
