Wilderness Art Challenge

wilderness art challenge bison in watercolor
This week I am working on a portrait of a friend's horse.  It will be 11 by 14 inches, bigger than I have painted in a while.  I have masked off the highlights and painted in some blues and greens of the sky and grass.

Meanwhile, I have been working on some painting challenges.

This is an 8 by 10 inch watercolor on rough Arches.  The reference photo is form Gary Keimig.

Used a little coarse salt in the hide of the bison.

I am enjoying going a little slower with my paintings, trying to do lots of looking, to see where the paintings need to go.
