I have been sketching people from clothing catalogs, as I wait in the car to pick up my kids at school, so I found this weeks Daily Paint Works Challenge to be the perfect excuse to try a sketch in watercolor! This is 5 by 7 inches on Arches watercolor paper.
Maria- I love this and I also love your clothing catalog idea for practicing people sketches! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteLovely pieces you have on this blog!!
ReplyDeleteNice! I like it.
ReplyDeleteHi Maria - I love that you describe yourself as a vet, mom and artist. I was an engineer and stay at home mom who started painting when my kids were small, too. The kids are older now but I am still painting and happy to discover your blog and wonderful animal art. I put a link on my blog to yours so that more people can enjoy your wonderful paintings!
ReplyDeletenice challenge piece! I haven't tried it yet, but like your handling of the values here.
ReplyDeleteLovely sketch! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for the positive comments on my challenge painting. Must admit I am a bit intimidated by painting people and it was a little freeing to give it a try, animals have always been so much simpler for me to decipher than humans... in so many ways... but I keep trying to figure them out!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments on Bruno. And I am glad you enjoy the "process".
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for challenging yourself to painting people! You did a great job on this! I, too, sketch from magazines and catalogs. I have yet to try painting them, though. But you've inspired me! Nice to "meet" you, Maria - I'm looking forward to keeping in touch via the blogsphere!
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you LInda, I really enjoyed seeing your blog and artwork, you have inspired me to want to try that Yupo paper!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol, the pose on that woman was more difficult than I thought when I started in, but I am glad I gave it a whirl!
