Into the Blue, watercolor painting of Australian Shepherd Puppy

This week I have been working on this painting of a puppy I met at a horse show. They are always there at horse shows, those cute little girls in shorts and cowboy boots, holding a puppy in their hands...looking for their forever homes (for the pup, not the young cowgirl!)...I am usually good at NOT looking, NOT holding, that's when they've got you, when you hold them! But I could not resist taking a picture, and painting him. He had such lovely eyes!

  1. Yes, that is how I ended up with three dogs! I love your painting technique here.... so fresh and free.

  2. Yes, the puppy is sweet Maria. No more dogs for me. I can sometimes barely make it up and down the stairs myself never mind having to take one of those wonderful creatures out to do their business. I'll just love they through other peoples photos etc. Wonderful job on this.

  3. Thank you Carol, I am glad you like him, you are right, they are so much work to care for though, right now mine is desperately in need of a bath, I can smell her from here!!

  6. This is wonderful! I haven't gotten up the nerve to try to paint a dog yet. The fur is intimidating!

Thanks for your comments on my strawberries and shakers!
