Arabian Portrait

watercolor portrait of "Pooh", a grey flea bitten Arabian, ©Maria T Reichert 2011
I had been working on this horse portrait for a few weeks.  Found it tough to work in Pooh's grey color with dapples and red speckles, and still get him to stand out from the snow!  His owner gave me the approval on this one though.  I have three more horse portraits to work on, so my dog work may take a back seat for a little while.

  1. Pooh looks beautiful Maria! I think you've captured his color perfectly. Flea bitten is SO tricky. :)

  4. Thanks Jennifer, I am working another horse portrait and thankfully not grey, and no dapples or ticking, it is a little bit of a relief!

  7. Thanks Pat! I have had to slow down on my dog work for a little while, I have had several people ask me to paint Christmas gifts for friends, so I am making sure I have those done first. Will get back to my dog work when I can !

  10. Thank you, his coloring was much harder than I thought it would be, but his owner loves it, and that is most important, so happy that you like him as well!
