Summer Horse 11 by 14 watercolor on paper ©Maria
Worked on this on Arches watercolor paper, approximately 11 by 14, met this fellow at a horse show this weekend. Took some photos of some of the horses outside in the fields, while my daughter and her friends got their horses worked, washed and ready to show. Really think these guys sunning themselves got the better end of the deal!
Love it. The colors are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lee, I intended it to be more warm in color, but my blues took over a bit :)
DeleteBeautifully done, Maria!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathryn!
DeleteOutstanding colors and lighting and a beautiful horse.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, something was so tempting about the lighting in this photo, I just had to give it a try on paper!
Deletethis is a wonderful painting - lovely light you've captured, in the mountains where I walk we have wild ponies roaming free and got some great photos of them which I'll be posting to my blog later tonight - I'm sure you'd like them with your love of horses, I'm still trying to choose one to paint!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon. You are so lucky to live near the mountains AND to have wild ponies as well! Am going now to look at your photos, I KNOW I will love them.
DeleteThis is really lovely -- although the face was hidden, it shows a lot of "personality" of the horse in the posture. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I do enjoy reading their personalities, and try to get that onto the paper, so happy that is what you see when you look.....
