"She just couldn't decide between being an artist when she grew up and being a vet. Her mother responded, you don't have to decide sweet girl. you can be both."
For my 22nd painting I worked on this small watercolor of a white boxer. He belonged to a friend and passed away unexpectedly this week. So sad for her.
He is so completely unbelievably cute! I am a big sucker for box/terriers -- they can be so affectionate! I love the limited palette you are using for this work. It captured the flesh tone on him so well.
He is adorable, Maria. My oldest daughter lost her Boxer right before the holidays. He was 9 and had cancer. I still hurt for her because that was her baby.
Murphy is beautiful and your friend will love this memory! I am sorry my visits to your blog have been so sporadic- my mom has been in chemo, and I spent most of last year away from home. I have been seeing your work on Facebook even when I am not checking out my favorite art blogs.
Growing up with boxers brings this one to the forefront for me. Beautiful use of watercolor! The personality really comes through in your work.
ReplyDeleteWonderful and loose, and you really captured his expression. So sorry for your friend's loss.
