Yellow Lab in watercolor 5 by 7 © Maria's Watercolor Art |
On Day 4 of the challenge, I worked from a friends photo of her lab. No pencil sketch, just jumped right in and started adding color. Would like to work this again, larger with more detail, the reference photo had such great lights and darks. But this is it for today. Make it a good day!
Love this lab, have had three of them....you captured the lab spirit!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kay, that means so much to me from someone who knows them so well!
DeleteThe minute I saw him I knew he was a lab and a yellow one. Love your doggies. I like too that you are putting in extra colors. You know I especially love this one. looking forward to seeing them all. oh the little bulldog was precious. love,Diana
ReplyDeleteThank you Diana! You know I think of you each time I see a yellow lab, especially the older ones. I am working from a photo today of a friends older lab, I will post it today. He is a big sweet fellow.
DeleteLovely use of expressive color!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Nancy!
DeleteHI Maria! Love this lab - would be a nice bigger one!
ReplyDeleteI like the back bleed on his back it's interesting!
Thanks Pattie, I really liked what happened there too, the beauty of watercolor, it sometimes does the work for you :) I am going to try this one again, with more detail, loved this photo I was allowed to borrow.
DeleteThis is great, Maria! My labs were all black ones, now I have a standard poodle.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing more dogs!
Thank you Fay. My next subject is a black lab, and then another yellow! I usually paint too many horses, so this is a nice change for me. And thank you for following the blog.
DeleteVery Sweet!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, I love having a great model!
DeleteYour daily paintings are all fabulous, Maria! The quick spontaneous style is very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy! I am enjoying them. I usually jump around to different subjects, and it is nice to focus on the dogs, I think it is helping me get the anatomy down, especially those tricky noses!
