Keeping Watch, tabby cat painting in watercolor

"Keeping Watch" 8 by 10 original watercolor on paper Maria's Watercolor ©2014 Buy Here

I met this guy when my family and I were on vacation and heading out for dinner.  He had planted himself outside The Wreck of The Salty Dog.  His confident expression implied he was a regular and not a tourist.  The crowd swirled around him, but he gave none as much as a glance.

I am guessing he is well fed from dinner leftovers daily and he does not let the tourist chaos distract him from his mission, he does not beg.

Oddly enough I find him somewhat inspiring, he is not distracted. he is there for a purpose, he is not grumpy, merely focused on what he wants.  I had to take a few photos and bring them home for painting.

  1. Hi Maria! I don't know why I have not visited your blog for a while, but wow what a joy to be here again! Your animal paintings are all wonderful watercolors and I love the looseness! The cat is fabulous, great colors!
