"Go Fish" 8 by 8 watercolor on Arches 140# watercolor paper Maria's Watercolor Art ©2014 Available Here |
I went to see the movie "The Fault in Our Stars" and was moved in so many ways, a must see for sure, have yet to read the book but that is next on my list.
Sharing a quote from the movie/book:
“There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1. There's .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. A writer we used to like taught us that. There are days, many of them, when I resent the size of my unbounded set. I want more numbers than I'm likely to get, and God, I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than he got. But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn't trade it for the world. You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful.”
― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

And I believe the take home message to be, that we never know how many numbers we have in our very own infinity, and maybe our goal should be to seek each one, make it count, make it memorable.
And honestly, as artists, isn't that what we do each time we touch a brush to paper? Make that moment stand still, make it count, make it memorable. The light on the tip of the ear of a horse, or the shadows on the petal of a sunflower, or the glitter on the scales of the fish caught by the lake. When I get it right, it brings back the memory, the smell of the hay, the colors of a garden, the sound of the water. Trying to make that moment a forever for the viewer and the artist. Maybe.
